Standard Operating Procedures are required for all tasks performed by Kenai crewmembers. Standard Operating Procedures assist with crew continuity, communication, efficiency, training and stopping the job when necessary.
Kenai believes that all incidents and accidents can be prevented. Kenai also believes that the majority of accidents are caused by unsafe behaviors in the work place. Kenai is actively involved in a modified Behavior Based Safety program for safety. All of our employees are trained and encouraged to perform observations of fellow employees during the work day. This information and feedback on unsafe behaviors significantly reduces these types of behaviors and thus reduces accidents.
Kenai has adopted the IADC’s employee certification program known as KSA® which is an acronym for Knowledge, Skills and Abilities?. Each employee is given a KSA Handbook when they start their employment with Kenai. This book contains a description of all the job duties each position on the rig will be expected to fulfill. As each employee demonstrates his knowledge, skills and abilities to perform each specific job function, his supervisor will mark his book appropriately. After the employee has fully demonstrated his ability to perform all job functions for the position he is filling, he will be certified by Kenai.
