VP & General Manager Safety & HR
After 15 years in Safety and Operating within the railroad industry in Texas and New Mexico, Rex started in the oilfield industry as an HR & Safety Manager for an oilfield trucking company in 1990. In 1992 he accepted a Safety Manager position with JSM Drilling in West Texas, and then worked for Nabors Drilling USA in West Texas and Bakersfield, California from 1997 to 2004 in the Safety and HR departments. In 2004 he worked for WESTEC (Taft) as Program Manager-Drilling & Well Service Training Schools. In 2005 and 2006 he provided safety consulting in various areas of Safety/Training/Fall Protection/BBS/Equipment Integrity for companies such as Pacific Management (Ventura) Chevron (Bakersfield) and Oxy (THUMS & Bakersfield), as well as Western Drilling, Ensign Drilling and B&L Casing. In November 2006 he was offered an HES Specialist-Drilling position with Oxy Elk Hills, and was a member of the Oxy Global Drilling Safety Team. Rex worked there until February 2008. In March 2008 he accepted a position as Vice President & General Manager of Safety & HR with Kenai.
Rex received a Petroleum Technology Certificate from Taft College in 2002. He received his Associates Degree – Science from Taft College in 2003. He also received his Certificate in Safety Management from ASSE in 2007.
As part of the Kenai Management Team, Rex is charged with roles of responsibility in Safety and Human Resources, and is working on some new programs that will be beneficial to all in the coming months.
